Yosemite — Seeing the Landscape Through a Photographer’s Eyes
Yosemite National Park was not new to me when I returned for the third time. My first two visits were simply to enjoy the beauty of the park—to experience the mountains, rivers, and scenery with friends.
My third visit was different. I returned as a college photography student, joining my photography professor’s workshop. This time, I was not only looking at the landscape; I was learning how to see it through a photographer’s eyes.
I have always been drawn to mountains and rivers, and Yosemite brought these two elements together in a powerful way. The towering granite cliffs, flowing rivers, and changing light offered endless possibilities for photography.
During the workshop, I began to pay closer attention to the way light moved across the mountains, how reflections connected the river to the landscape, and how the character of the scene changed throughout the day.
The experience taught me that landscape photography is not simply about documenting a beautiful place. It is about slowing down, observing, and discovering a personal connection with the landscape.
Returning to Yosemite for the third time allowed me to see a familiar place in a completely different way. What had once been a place to visit and enjoy became a place to observe, interpret, and photograph.
For me, Yosemite represents the enduring connection I have with mountains, rivers, and the natural landscape—a connection that continues to shape the way I see and photograph the world.
